Resource title and description in English The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality measuring stations at which background pollution, long-distance transport of air pollutants and air quality trends are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2022 and the development of pollution levels over the last 30 years. The limit values for particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were complied with at all measuring points in 2022. The pollution levels were at a similarly low level as in the last three years. Ozone pollution in 2022 was slightly below the average of recent decades. Nevertheless, the target values for ozone to protect human health and vegetation were exceeded at two and four monitoring sites respectively.
