Resource title and description in English Ecosystem monitoring for the EU. The EU Directive on the reduction of national emissions of certain atmospheric pollutants (NEC Directive, EU 2016/2284) requires EU member states to monitor the effects of air pollutants caused by acidifying and eutrophying sulphur and nitrogen emissions as well as ground-level ozone in ecosystems. In Austria, this was implemented by combining a number of existing monitoring systems.
