Resource title and description in English Genome Editing - Final Report Definition of terms and open questions from an environmental perspective. Genome editing is currently being intensively discussed at national and international level. This concerns, among other things, the legal classification of the products produced with it and the assessment of their risks. This report provides an overview of the various techniques of genome editing and the changes in genetic material that can be produced with them. In addition, a proposal for a definition of genome editing is presented. The second part of the report identifies open questions arising from the discussion on a possible change in legal regulation. This includes a presentation of corresponding scenarios and their respective consequences and a discussion of open questions from the areas of risk assessment and the precautionary principle. The need for action is identified.
