Resource title and description in English The EU Deforestation Regulation. The aim of the EU Deforestation Regulation is to minimise the EU's contribution to deforestation and forest degradation worldwide. Based on this regulation, which came into force in June 2023, the German Environment Agency has analysed deforestation on the basis of background information. For the EU level and Austria, the publicly available data on imports and exports of the seven raw materials covered by the regulation, including derived products (beef, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, rubber, wood) are presented. This is supplemented by an overview of deforestation at a global level. The analysis shows the extent to which the data allows conclusions to be drawn about the countries of origin and their land consumption. Existing certification systems for the individual raw materials are also described.
