Resource title and description in English Register of suspected contaminated sites and contaminated land atlas. Status: 1 January 2021. In the Report on the Register of Suspected Contaminated Sites and the Atlas of Contaminated Sites, the Federal Environment Agency provides an overview of how many abandoned landfills and contaminated sites are recorded in Austria. The Act on the Remediation of Contaminated Sites stipulates that the registered sites are to be processed. The main tasks of processing are the investigation of suspected contaminated sites and the assessment of the environmental hazards that emanate or may emanate from old deposits and old sites. The report provides information on the processing status of the registered areas and on the progress made in the remediation of contaminated sites throughout Germany and in the individual federal states. The Report on the Register of Suspected Contaminated Sites and Contaminated Sites Atlas is updated annually and is based on all data on contaminated sites and old deposits that were available to the Federal Environment Agency as of 1 January 2021.
