Resource title and description in English Air quality and meteorological measurements. The Environment Agency Austria (UBA) operates seven air quality measuring stations at which background pollution, long-range transport of air pollutants and air quality trends are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2020 and the development over the last 30 years. The limit values for particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were complied with at all monitoring sites in 2020. The ozone pollution in 2020 was significantly below the average of the last decades. One of the reasons for this was the significantly lower emissions of NOx due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, the target values for ozone to protect human health and vegetation were exceeded at five monitoring sites.
