Resource title and description in English Human biomonitoring in sensitive populations. Within the framework of a human biomonitoring study, the Federal Environment Agency, in cooperation with the University of Vienna, examined environmental chemicals, mycotoxins, phytoestrogens and endogenous oestrogens as well as their metabolites in the urine of 85 primary school children from eastern Austria. The majority of the substances examined could be detected in the children's urine samples. In addition, correlations between exposure to certain substances and dietary, lifestyle and environmental factors were identified. The first Austrian human biomonitoring study to examine such a wide range of substances supports the demands and measures of the new European Chemicals Strategy for a pollution-free environment.
