Software Developer (f/m/d) Big & Open Data

As a Software Developer, you will provide innovative consulting services and work in the Business Intelligence, Big Data & Open Data team, which is responsible for the development of Big Data Management and Open Data platforms that support public administration in their data lifecycle processes (from creation to use to archiving).

In doing so, the team concentrates and professionalizes BRZ competencies for modern Business Intelligence as well as Big and Open Data systems. The employees analyze customer requirements, create technical solution concepts, advise on implementation as well as on the use of (open source) tools and implement high-quality solutions for the entire federal administration.

Your tasks in the team

  • Further development of the Open Data platforms data.gv.at and opendataportal.at
  • Further development of an open source data management platform in the Big Data area
  • Independent analysis and implementation of work packages in compliance with quality and safety criteria
  • Collaboration in a Scrum team and with international companies
  • Quality assurance, testing and documentation of services

You bring with you

  • Completed technical education (HTL, Uni, FH) or equivalent professional experience (at least 2 years)
  • Profound programming skills (preferably Java and Python) and experience with common database management systems (preferably PostgreSQL and mySQL)
  • Experience in container technology and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Knowledge in agile software development
  • Experience with the metadata management solution CKAN and knowledge of microservices development an advantage
  • Openness to open source development processes and an enthusiasm for open source software desirable
  • Analytical mindset and conceptual skills as well as an independent and solution-oriented approach to work
  • High sense of responsibility and quality

Depending on the level of education and relevant professional experience, the BRZ collective agreement stipulates an annual gross salary starting at EUR 48,744. This salary refers to a full-time position of 38.5 hours per week; any additional work performed above this will be compensated. In case of several years of professional experience, an overpayment is possible depending on the technical qualifications.
