Resource title and description in English Runoff dynamics in the Schneealpen massif. To estimate the environmental influences on the quality of spring water. The Schneealpe karst massif, with an area of 113 km2 , is located about 100 km southwest of Vienna (Fig. 1). of Vienna (Fig. 1 ). A significant part of this area is covered by a high plateau with an average sea average altitude of 1,800 m above sea level. This massif represents an independent karst body. The slates and phyllites of the greywacke zone form the basement of a sequence built up from three cover bodies (Tirolikum, Mürzalpendecke, Schneealpen-Deckscholle). The following strata are involved in the construction of these units: Werfen strata, Gutensteiner limestone, Steinalm limestone, Reiflinger limestone, Hallstätter Buntkalk, Wetterstein limestone and dolomite, Waxenegg limestone. The series of Werfen slates at the The Werfener Schiefer series at the base of the Triadic carbonates form the most important reservoir horizon.
